Metal Braces

Braces have changed since your parents had them! Gone are the days of headgear and bulky bands and brackets. The modern braces that Dr. Trommeter uses are more comfortable to wear because they are smaller in scale and more discreet than ever. Even the glue is advanced in our office; it provides a protective barrier to prevent unwanted staining during treatment. New wires with shape memory continually exert gentle forces so that fewer office visits are necessary and overall treatment time is often shorter.

Early Intervention

It’s important to monitor your child’s oral development. The American Association of Orthodontists suggests that children have their first evaluation with an orthodontist around the age of 7 years old. While there are some children who may benefit from early orthodontic intervention, Dr. Trommeter believes that this is only a small number. He feels that early orthodontic intervention is often overprescribed.

Our philosophy at Trommeter Orthodontics is that the most effective way to care for our patients is through one phase of appropriately timed treatment designed to capitalize on their growth. Dr. Trommeter is happy to monitor your child’s oral development at no cost to you, in order to recommend the timeliest manner in which to start their treatment, which will produce the best results.

Limited Orthodontics

For adults with specific issues such as crowding of their lower front teeth, a limited treatment plan with a focus specifically on that area may be ideal. This can be a very a cost effective and efficient way to enhance your smile, and Dr. Trommeter can determine if limited orthodontics is right for you during a complementary consultation. With focused treatment, limited orthodontics can often help you achieve your goals in less time.

Sometimes adult orthodontics presents challenges such as working with missing teeth or managing periodontal (gum) disease. Dr. Trommeter is happy to partner with your general dentist during treatment planning and throughout your care to ensure that your teeth remain healthy and you achieve your desired results in the best manner possible.

It is Dr. Trommeter’s opinion that very few patients need early intervention, and it is often over-diagnosed. He feels that the majority of his patients can be treated most efficiently and effectively with one phase of orthodontic treatment completed more toward the adolescent or teenage years.

Initial examinations at our office are complimentary, and Dr. Trommeter is happy to monitor your child’s oral development at no cost to you until they are ready for full orthodontic treatment.

While many dentists offer options for orthodontic treatment, your general dentist can only offer limited options that may not suit your child’s needs. It is best to entrust your child’s smile to an expert like Dr. Trommeter who is capable of offering a full range of orthodontic treatments that focus on tooth alignment and jaw function.

Give our office a call today to learn more about what we offer and schedule your child’s next appointment.

Although Dr. Trommeter takes a conservative approach to early orthodontics, generally about 20% of kids will benefit from Phase I treatment. If Dr. Trommeter determines your son or daughter does not need early treatment he will recommend an observation appointment every six months to keep an eye on development. All of these appointments are complimentary and will help determine the optimum time for your child to complete orthodontics. Contact us today to learn more or schedule an appointment.
