Kindness, like a boomerang, always returns

Some of you may know that October is national orthodontic health month, many of you probably don’t. It's okay we still love you! Of course as an orthodontics office we are ecstatic to talk about the benefits of braces and Invisalign, buuuuut the real topic I’m going to be talking about today is a different national awareness month that is just as important to our office.

National Bullying Prevention Month is a campaign that takes place every October in the United States.

Many of us get braces during our formative years, whether that is elementary school, middle school, or even high school (hem hem Dr. Trommeter). This can be a very sensitive time for your self-esteem, not only are you trying to fit in and make friends but sometimes you fall victim to a bully that has zero sympathy for your feelings. Sure we can tell you that metal braces are super trendy and look very fashionable, but we all know the truth, you’d prefer to ditch the teeth bling and rock your pearly whites. The good news is you aren’t the only one that feels this way but let’s not forget to mention that the benefits of braces trump the negatives! In the meantime, while you’re anxiously waiting your debond appointment, let’s talk about how we are working to combat this type of bullying in the community.

We’ve recently partnered with DUDE. Be Nice, this company believes in doing nice things for nice people. Whether it is a random act of kindness or actively expressing your appreciation for someone in a special way, whatever it may be, if it makes someone smile, laugh, or feel appreciated, we are all about it.

If you’ve been in for an appointment in the last month or so you’ve probably seen our DUDE.Be nice t-shirts and wondered what that’s all about. Each patient will be gifted a DUDE.Be nice t-shirt from our office very soon. Wear it and do something nice for somebody. Tell us about how you changed someone’s day and we will share it on social media and let everyone know how proud we are of our patients. :) Here’s to a happy and kind October!
